![]() ![]() ![]() Prior to Windows 8, to view non-present devices, you must set the environment variable DEVMGRSHOWNONPRESENTDEVICES to 1 before you open Device Manager, then open Device Manager. To include hidden devices in Device Manager display, select View and select Show hidden devices. Under Wireless displays & docks, select the wireless display or adapter, then select Remove device > Yes. Try reconnecting. However, during testing, a developer might have to view such devices. To remove the device, select Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Restart your PC and the wireless display or adapter. Make sure your device drivers are up to date and the latest firmware is installed for your wireless display or adapter (see the support info on the manufacturer's website for instructions or search Microsoft Store for your manufacturer's app to help you). If it doesn't, you'll need a Miracast adapter (sometimes called a dongle) that plugs into an HDMI port. ![]() That control may be different on other brands or models. Make sure the display you want to project to supports Miracast and that it's turned on. I have a couple of Dell Notebooks with the HDMI port instead of a VGA port and they have a hardware control, press the Fn key plus the F1 key at the same time to toggle between the LCD panel, the HDMI port or both at the same time. 4. Make sure your Windows device supports Miracast by checking the info that came with it or by going to the manufacturer's website.
